New Moon in Libra + Solar Eclipse
October is quite a powerful month! Eclipse season arrives on October 14 with a Solar Eclipse. Then the veil grows thinner as we move closer to Scorpio season on October 23. It’s time for visits to pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and seances, and celebrating Halloween and Samhain.
Later this month we will have a Lunar Eclipse. Stay tuned for a separate update on that in a couple of weeks. I’m also traveling for a good bit of November, so there will be no missive from me next month.

New Moon in
Libra + Eclipse Season Begins!
We will welcome the New Moon at 21 degrees of Libra at 12:55 p.m. Central time. But this is not just a New Moon — this is a Solar Eclipse! If you have placements in Aries and Libra, and to a slightly lesser degree, Cancer and Capricorn, you will likely notice the effects the most.
If you write New Moon intentions, you may want to focus on Libra themes of relationships, beauty, and justice.
That said, given that this is a Solar Eclipse, be sure to craft your intentions with extra care as this is an extra-powerful time.
The Solar Eclipse
The annular Solar Eclipse welcomes the Fall Eclipse Season. A ring of fire hangs in the sky, the moon a dark silhouette. Even if you can’t see it, this interruption of light can be felt. Magic, mystery. Endings and beginnings. The Moon, the Sun’s constant mirror, covers her face at each New Moon. No reflection. A call to turn inward, away from the ego. At an eclipse, the call deepens. We journey to deeper realms within our psyche. Worlds fly apart and new ones are constructed. A proverbial door closes, and a new one creaks open. Pluto is Direct!
Pluto, the planet of deep and irrevocable transformation, came out of retrograde and began to move direct in the sign of Capricorn on October 10.
Deep changes that may have paused or moved into the background for private contemplation now begin to move forward again.
We also may begin to see great shifts in power structures and revolution may erupt.
Meanwhile, Mars moves into Scorpio, a sign that it rules, on October 12, bringing us the drive we need to keep moving forward. Both Mars and Pluto are associated with war and, unfortunately, we have recently seen the conflict in Israel begin on the day (October 7) when a very tense aspect (known as a square) formed between Mars and Pluto.
Scorpio Season Begins
The veil continues to thin as we move into Scorpio on October 23. Happy birthday to all the Scorpio babies!
Scorpio is a sign of investigation and transformation. Scorpio wants to get to the bottom of things, to explore the places that others fear to tread. They aren’t afraid of a haunted house — they’re on the paranormal investigation team.
Scorpio season is the time of Halloween, ghosts, and things that go bump in the night. It’s also the season of Samhain and the Day of the Dead, just two examples of honoring our ancestors. Perhaps you might want to set out a photo (or photos) of a loved on who has passed and light a candle in their memory.
